Don Frye Blames Dana White’s Cars For Ruining MMA

Don FryeFormer UFC and Pride FC fighter Don Frye has never been shy about speaking his mind. That is why it should come of no surprise that he is publicly calling out the most powerful man in MMA and his cars for ruining the sport.

Frye did an interview recently with the Savage Dog Show on Sherdog radio when Dana White’s name came up. Here is what The Predator had to say about the “penny-pinching promoter.”

The fans are fantastic. Fantastic fans. But the thing is, Dana White’s just ruined the sport. I got to thinking about it today and you know, he ruined it for me… It’s a crime. You see some of these guys only getting two or three or six thousand dollars and you’ve got Dana bragging about having 30 Ferraris. Come on. You have a sponsor and he charges a sponsor what, a hundred and fifty grand to have your stuff on the fighter? That’s money he’s stealing from the fighter. Then he goes and he pays them two or three thousand dollars. That’s crazy.

Frye certainly isn’t the first pre-Zuffa UFC star to criticize White. Ken Shamrock has also been critical of his former boss lately as well as countless other fighters from that era.

Of course Dana White wasn’t going to let this statement go unanswered. White tweeted a response on his Twitter account.

my car ruined the sport. Don Frye is one of those fighters who is bitter he didn’t make the money these guys make. Guess what Don Frye, I have 2 of them and I earned them both by workin my ass off. Go count ur money not mine! F*ckin crybaby and 1 more thing 🙂 Koscheck has 2 of them also and he earned them. Go get a job Don Frye!! ok, I’m done. Lol

I can understand why some of these former stars are bitter. They were the pioneers of the UFC and have very little to show for it financially. Some have done well with their money and don’t complain while the majority like to point the finger at Dana White even though Dana had nothing to do with the UFC back then.

I have my beefs with White but accusing him of ruining the sport is not one of them. Quite frankly it was his promotional genius that saved the sport. If it weren’t for him and the Fertittas, the sport would never have grown to the global level it is today.

Not to mention, nobody is being forced to be a fighter. If the pay isn’t fair, find another job or start your own promotion.

That said, I once met Don Frye who is an incredibly scary and intimidating man when he is standing a few feet away from you. In other words, if I ever see you again, I agree 100% with everything you said.
