Dolph Ziggler Talks WWE Push, Frustration, and Randy Orton

Watching Dolph Ziggler can be very frustrating for WWE Fans but being Dolph Ziggler is another story. Dolph is living his dream but is the first to admit that while he is living his dream as a WWE superstar, he can’t understand why the rug keeps being pulled out from under him.

[adinserter block=”1″]I don’t know how many more blogs I can write about Dolph Ziggler being misused or why he isn’t being pushed. It’s a common theme here as well all over the wrestling blogosphere and social media. It’s hard not to recognize Ziggler’s superior talent whether he is headlining against John Cena or being squashed by Ryback. Why he isn’t getting pushed consistently is a mystery to me and him as he told

I’m always trying to make myself a better sports entertainer. I’m always trying to find out why people cheer at certain times. I love this, I love doing this. I have no desire to switch companies or go to UFC or anything like that. As of right now, working on the entertainment aspect is my favorite thing to do, my favorite hobby right now (he does stand-up comedy on the side). I’m very ambitious, and I’m very outspoken about where I should be and where I need to be in the WWE. I love that I’ve never been one handed anything – ever. If I would’ve have been handed things, I don’t know if I would’ve been able to enjoy it as much. Every time I turn a corner, it seems like the rug is being taken underneath me. It’s like ‘Hey, great job!’ and then nothing. It’s like ‘Hey, wow, look what you can do!’ and I’ll say ‘Thanks, boss!’ and then there’s nothing. And so, it’s hard (to stay upbeat), but you have to deal with it and it makes me hungrier every single day knowing that I’ve scratched and clawed for everything I’ve earned in this business.

Ziggler has a very interesting take on it all. He uses is it as motivation yet still has a hard time keeping himself upbeat. It is that kind of attitude that separates Ziggler from guys in similar positions and an attitude that I think will shoot him up the ladder once again.

Ziggler is not a patient man when it comes to his push. While he isn’t trying to insult his peers on the card, Ziggler feels he deserves better.

I’ve made it clear; I’m not patient at all – several times. I’ve been very vocal about my position on the card and in the company. I’m not trying to say ‘Hey, everybody sucks and I’m great!’ But I love doing this, and at some point you go ‘OK, It’s not my time right now and I got to figure something out’ And when it’s time, that’s when I must go out there and make as huge of an impact as I can and let everyone know ‘I dare you to follow that, I dare you try something better.’

And when they don’t (counter or match what I’m doing in the ring) I’m very outspoken about it and it can get me into very hot water (with the company). Then you never know where we’re going. Everybody can be just so outspoken about taller guys, and guys like Randy Orton being the face of the WWE, the WWE Championship. I dare you to put me in a back alley with Randy Orton or someone like that. I guarantee I’m not afraid of someone taller.”

It’s interesting that Ziggler continues dropping Randy Orton name in interviews. He did it recently elsewhere and was one of the first to tweet about Orton and Hunter’s actions at SummerSlam. It would appear that he is planting the seeds for an angle although you’d never know it the way he is being booked. The only place this angle has any legs is media and yet it is completely ignored on television.

[adinserter block=”2″]I hope that changes because I’d love to see a long series between Orton and Ziggler. If it can happen for Daniel Bryan there is no reason to think it can’t happen to Ziggler. Check out the entire interview over at

  1. I don't quite understand the IWC obsession with Ziggler. Here are the reasons why he's not being pushed in my opinion, whether you think they are good reasons or not is up to debate: 1) His name is Dolph Ziggler, 2) He wears pink, 3) His dyed blond hair 4) He shakes his ass on the intro, 5) He is shorter than Randy Orton and Cesaro who I'd rather be pushed than Ziggler, 6) He doesn't steal any show, he oversells and it doesn't make the opponent look good, just makes him look retarded. 7) He's not as technically gifted on the mic or in the ring as Punk or Daniel Bryan.
