How would you spend your final week as a WWE superstar preparing for the biggest match of your eleven-year pro wrestling career? Well, if you are CM Punk you spend it cooking your own Swiss cheese pizza at Ian’s Pizza in Chicago.
CM Punk got a head start on WWE Money in the Bank 2011 to Chicago and was spotted on Thursday at one of Chicago’s favorite pizza restaurants. The great pizza makers of Ian’s welcomed the former WWE and ROH champion by putting him to work. Punk cooked the G.T.S. pizza, named after his finishing move the Go To Sleep.
The Chicago Tribune had a nice blurb and picture on the event. The paper listed Punk’s appearance in their “About Last Night” section above appearances from someone in the Dave Matthews Band, Jason Patric, Fantasy Football standout kicker Rob Bironas, and Roc himself, Charles Dutton. Now that’s respect!
So what do you get on a G.T.S. pizza? If I didn’t know who CM Punk was I’d be a little dubious about eating something called the Go To Sleep Pizza. The G.T.S. pizza is not something that you can eat on a regular basis at Ian’s. The pizza appears to be a one and done weekly special according to the Ian’s website. The pizza is listed on their website as the July 4-10 special and reads…
“CM Punk’s GTS (Go To Sleep) – This slice is in honor of our friends at Bake and Destroy, and the champion of wrestling, CM Punk. With smoked turkey legs from Paulina Meat Market and sliced potatoes on a creme fraiche base, topped with swiss cheese and french fried onions. You’ll earn your heavyweight belt after this one.”
Quite frankly that sounds like the most disgusting pizza on earth. The thought of eating a pizza with Swiss cheese makes my stomach turn. No word on whether this is a stolen recipe or an original.
Although after Punk’s incident in Australia, he may have to work on his customer service skills.
CM Punk challenges John Cena for the WWE championship at Money in the Bank on July 17 in Chicago, IL.
