Charles Rosa On His UFC Debut At Fight Night 59, His Goals & More

UFC fighter Charles Rosa recently spoke about his upcoming fight with Sean Soriano for UFC Fight Night 59. Down below are the highlights:

Right off the bat, he was asked what he learned about in his last fight in order to win in his upcoming fight:

“I learned that I can do it in a worst-case scenario. I overcame all of that on short notice and still performed well. I am capable fighting in the UFC. Before that everyone told me I could do it and I felt confident in myself, but you never really know about something until you do it. When I did it, I really found out for sure that there was no doubt I belong there. I don’t like to make excuses, but it’s not like I would have done worse against Siver with a full training camp. I’m only capable of doing better. With ample time to prepare for this one, it’s perfect. My body and my mind are completely healthy and I belong in the UFC.”

When asked about fighting in Boston:

“This really is the ultimate dream come true. Walking to the cage gives you that extra ounce of energy, that extra fire that you need at this level. Fighting in Boston is going to give me all the extra adrenaline to perform at the national level. I plan on going in the cage and feeling the best I’ve ever felt and very strong. It’s a feeling I can’t describe. It’s almost like I have superhuman powers. It starts right when I walk out in the tunnel. Being in Boston, maybe it will give me a little extra of that. I can’t wait to feel it.”

Like many fighters, Rose ultimate goal is to win the UFC title in his weight class:

“My goal since my first professional fight was to become the UFC champion. Top 10 is where I want to be and it’s where I feel I belong. I’m going to prove that when I go out there. With a full training camp I don’t think there’s anyone in the world that can beat me. This is certainly a dream come true being able to fight in my home town of Boston in front of family and friends. I’ll be looking to put him away on Jan. 18.”

UFC Fight Night 59 will be his UFC debut and this is what he said about finally making it to the biggest MMA promotion in the world.

“I always expected my UFC debut to be perfect and for everything to go smooth, but the first one didn’t really feel like what I expected. I thought I’d have a full camp, have all my coaches and sponsors in line, all my clothes ready to go. That’s how I pictured my UFC debut. It didn’t really happen that way. It didn’t go how I thought it would. This is always how I pictured my UFC debut and it’s how it’s going. I have a full camp, I have the home crowd and I have everything in line leading up to the fight. This one really feels right.”

UFC Fight Night 59 goes down Sunday, Jan. 18 at Boston’s TD Garden. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 after preliminary fights on FOX Sports 2 and UFC Fight Pass. The main event for this event will be Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver. The co-main event will be Eddie Alvarez vs. Benson Henderson.

Charles Rose will be fighting Sean Soriano on the preliminary side of the event on Fox Sports 1.
