C-Murder Release Date: Is the Rapper Getting Released?

The rapper is currently serving his sentence.

The rapper C-Murder was arrested for a murder case and was sentenced to prison for life in 2009. However, some controversies were found in his case later on in 2018 when the witnesses against him recanted their testimonies.

The question remains what is the current situation and whether C-Murder will be released now that the testimonies are contradicted. Here is everything we know about it so far:

Who is C-Murder?

Corey Miller who goes by the stage name C-Murder is a rapper and songwriter based in America. The rapper first gained recognition as part of No Limit Records in the 1990s, which was his brother Master P’s label. He was a member of the label’s subgroup called TRU.

Through that label, C-Murder released multiple solo albums from which he gained the platinum music recording certification for his album Life or Death in 1998. The rapper has published a total of nine albums from six different labels.

Why Was He Arrested?

Corey was arrested in 2002 after he was found connected with the murder of a kid aged 16 named Steve Thomas. He was found guilty and sentenced to prison for life on 14th August 2009 in the Louisiana State Penitentiary.

However, controversy rose in 2018 when the two key witnesses involved in Corey’s prosecution recanted their statements. The witnesses claimed that they were threatened by the authorities to give testimonies against Miller. After that Miller started demanding a new trial and him and his brothers and nephews have demanded a new trial multiple times in the past while insisting that he is innocent.

C-Murder still made the music even when he was sentenced to life and kept releasing new singles. Corey’s case was featured on Investigation Discovery Reasonable Doubt in 2018, where the witnesses against him discussed and recanted their testimonies.

Kim Kardashian Advocating for Corey’s Release

Kim campaigned for the release of C-Murder in 2009 and claimed that the new evidence turned out to be false and since the witnesses have recanted their testimonies then Corey should be innocent as he has claimed ever since he was convicted.

She said in a tweet: Since his trial, witnesses have recanted, new evidence of his potential innocence has come to light, and there are claims of jurors being pressured into voting to convict. True justice for the young man requires that the person who actually killed him be held responsible and that Corey Miller he [sic] returned home to his kids.”

Will Corey Be Released?

Despite the controversies arising in the case of Corey and the witnesses recanting their testimonies, the rapper’s life sentence continues to remain and he has not been proven innocent yet.

Despite the rapper insisting on being innocent, his lawyers have been unable to have his sentence overturned even after multiple attempts.
