Brock Lesnar Vs. Alistair Overeem UFC 141 Official Promo

UFC 141 promoCheck out the first official video promo for the UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem December event. If you weren’t psyched for this heavyweight collision before watching, you’ll be counting the hours down until fight time after you get a load of this.

I think it is fair to say that this fight is going to be huge. Before taking an indefinite absence from the UFC due to injury/illness, Brock Lesnar was the number one draw in the company. Bringing him back against someone as high profile as Alistair Overeem has the potential to be the most successful MMA fight of the year.

It is easy to see where the UFC is going in this one. They are marketing the size and the heavy hands of both men. This is the same formula the company used to promote the UFC 116 collision between Shane Carwin vs. Brock Lesnar. UFC 116 wound up coming in with the best buyrate of the year in 2010 with 1,160,000 buys. I’d expect even more since Overeem is more well known than Carwin was at the time of the fight.

I am still a little skeptical that this fight will actually take place. Brock Lesnar is recovering from major surgery and while all indications appear to be that he is good to fight, I’ll believe it when I see it. Yet until he is officially pulled, I’ll sit back and enjoy the hype like the rest of you.

UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem takes place on New Year’s weekend, Friday December 30, 2011 and will be broadcast live on pay per view.
