Let’s return to Pandora!
James Cameron certainly made us wait a while for this and it better be worth the wait. Avatar was released in the theatres back in 2009 and more than a decade later, we finally got news about there being a sequel.
Avatar was legendary, the special effects of the movie were way ahead of its time and the visuals were stunning and breathtaking, especially for the ones who saw it for the first time in the theatres. As soon as the news about a sequel surfaced, the expectations were pretty high.
We now know that the sequel is titled Avatar: The Way of Water, and here is everything we know about the movie so far:
What is Avatar About?
The first movie followed the story of Jake Sully, who had paraplegia and he took an opportunity to go on a mission to another planet by replacing his dead twin. The technology allowed him to inhabit the shell of the locals of planet Pandora and control it.
There he manages to win the trust of the inhabitants of the planet called Na’vi but now he has to shuffle between two lives and decide where his loyalties lie. The movie took about a decade to make and was budgeted for a massive $237 million.
The Plot of Avatar: The Way of Water
The story of the second movie is supposedly going to take place 10 years after the events of 2009’s Avatar. After finally bringing peace to Pandora by the end of the first movie, Jake decides to finally stay on the planet and live with the Na’vi.

Now 10 years later, Jake has properly settled with the tribe and started a family with Nay’tiri, and is doing his best to keep the peace. However, trouble looms ahead and they are forced to leave their home and explore the planet’s other regions.
An ancient threat will emerge and Jake will be forced to fight a war against the humans again.
