Another Accolade in Cristiano Ronaldo’s Belt

Ronaldo became the top scorer in football with a scintillating hattrick against Tottenham Hotspurs

Time and again Cristiano Ronaldo has proved, the more they criticize him the better he keeps on performing. Whenever Ronaldo has had a slow start to the season he has gone on to provide spectacular performances in the second half of the season.

United will hope that the Portuguese maestro can bolster a good run of form and lead the team the way they expected him to. The last match was a crucial game for Manchester United in terms of the race for the top four.

If they had failed to secure the three points Arsenal would have been leagues ahead at the 4th spot. However thanks to Ronaldo’s efforts United is still in contention for the top 4.

This was Ronaldo’s 49th hattrick of his club career

It’s a turbulent time for Manchester United and everyone knows that if the club does not perform there is a very good chance that Ronaldo will leave. However, last night he did not look like a player who wanted to leave the club.

Ronaldo went on to etch his name in the record books as professional football’s all-time leading scorer surpassing  Austro-Czech Josef Bican who has 805 goals to his name.

Ronaldo equaled the record with his opener and thanks to his hattrick his tally now stands at 807 goals. Ronaldo also became the second-oldest player in Premier League history to net a treble after Teddy Sheringham in August 2003 (37y & 146d).

It was important for Manchester United that Cristiano would be in the form before their faceoff against Athletico Madrid. Atletico played with United in the majority of the game however the Reds were able to conjure up a draw.

Now that Ronaldo is back in the scoring column the team will enter the tie with high morale. It would also be very important for Bruno Fernandes to calm his nerves and play a composed game against the Spanish opposition.

Ronaldo was extremely delighted with his performance against the Spurs

“Tremendously happy with my first hat-trick since I came back to Old Trafford! Nothing beats the feeling of being back on the pitch and helping the team with goals and effort.

“We’ve proven once again that we can beat any team in any given day, as long as we work hard and stand together as one. There are no limits for Man. United! No matter what! Let’s go, Devils!” Ronaldo said in an Instagram post.

That’s the spirit that all Manchester United players need to have if they want to pull themselves out of this hole they are in. The club only has the Champions League in terms of title aspirations and if they get knocked out it would be very problematic for the club.

Since Ronaldo’s arrival players like Rashford, Fernandes and Cavani haven’t been in the best of forms. There is an immediate need to improve the link-up in these channels as only then will the true potential of the team unlock.

United stand no chance against Atletico if they show up as individualism, they need to fight as a team, and only then can they win.
