Check out these videos of former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem showing off his striking skills in preparation for his UFC 141 collision against Brock Lesnar, in addition to speaking to the MMA media.
Overeem showed off his striking to the MMA media earlier this week during an open media workout. Overeem looks great, although doesn’t everyone (except James Toney) during their open media workouts in prepartion for their UFC fights?
[ad 6]The K1 Grand Prix champion also wasn’t shy in talking about the expectations of Friday’s UFC heavyweight Dream Fight. “In my opinion, this is one of the biggest fights ever,” Overeem said. “Of course then there’s going to be more media, more cameras, more people, more opinions, more everything. But it’s part of our job. I’m not complaining. I’m happy it’s this big, and it’s all good.”
It certainly is Alistair, it certainly is.
Alistair Overeem is currently a -145 favorite on the Vegas books heading into Friday’s fight. Lesnar is a +115 underdog which is a pretty good bet if you think the former WWE champion is going to handle the debuting UFC heavyweight.
I don’t think it is an overreaction to call this the biggest heavyweight UFC fight of the year. It is a bold statement for sure coming off of the recent UFC heavyweight championship fight on Fox television. However, the name value Lesnar still brings to the UFC is something that nobody in the division has been close to matching.
Keep it here on the Camel Clutch Blog for an extensive UFC 141 preview and immediate Lesnar vs. Overeem results later this week. Remember, the fight is Friday night December 30 and the pay per view does revert back to the old 10 PM start time as opposed to 9 PM/EST.
