A New WWE Hulk Hogan DVD On The Way Brother!

Hulk Hogan WWEThe WWE will be releasing a brand-new Hulk Hogan DVD in November. The WWE Home Video will feature a ton of rare Hogan matches from the WWWF, AWA, WWE, and WCW. This will be the third WWE tribute to Hulkamania. The new Hogan DVD will be released November 17, 2009.

We may hate to admit it, but there is a little Hulkamania left in all of us. Going to the Spectrum and seeing Hogan as a kid, I used to get the “Hogan chill.” The Hogan chill is that indescribable feeling of excitement whenever Eye of the Tiger or Real American hit the speakers. Sadly, he still sucks me in and I have to admit that I am pretty excited about this collection.

The tribute also shows that the WWE is practically out of ideas for new DVDs. Hogan is the first wrestler to have three WWE DVD collections. Honestly, who else is more befitting of this honor than Hogan? The WWE has enough Hogan footage from WWWF, WWF, WCW, NWA Georgia, and the AWA to put out another fifty Hogan DVDs with new matches. As long as the matches are new, I will never get tired of seeing old Hulkster matches.

The theme of this DVD is rarity. The WWE has done an excellent job of releasing rare Hogan matches. None of Hogan’s more famous WWE pay-per-view matches will be included. Instead, we get a ton of the Incredible Hulk Hogan during his WWWF heel run. The DVD includes some never-before-released matches of Hogan wrestling Andre the Giant and challenging Bob Backlund at the Spectrum for the WWWF championship.

The DVD also includes some unique Hogan bouts during the Hulkamania era in the WWF. The Hulkamania matches include bouts with “Macho Man” Randy Savage, Kamala, Killer Khan, One Man Gang, and Rick Rude. Some of these matches like the Rude match have been released on previous Hogan VHS collections. However, none of these matches have ever been released or re-mastered for DVD.

There is one match in particular that I am extremely excited about. The DVD includes the Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair WWE championship match from RAW in 2002. This is one of the underrated and underappreciated matches in WWE RAW history! I don’t know what it was, but these two just had all cylinders clicking on this night. I have been looking for this match for years online. Out of the hundreds of matches that these two have had over the years, this is far and away the best match of their series.

WWE announcer Jim Ross recently wrote the following on his blog. “I may have mentioned this in a past blog but for the upcoming Hulk Hogan DVD there are some really unique matches of Hogan versus a variety of opponents including 3 that The King and I narrated especially for the DVD. Two from 1980 when Hogan was a villain managed by Freddie Blassie and the hairy backed version of Hulk faced Bob Backlund for the WWWF Title from Philly and Andre The Giant in Madison Square Garden. We also narrated a Hogan vs. Kamala bout from Paul Boesch’s retirement show in Houston in 1987. I think you will enjoy what you see and what you hear on these narrated bouts. Let’s just say that the King and I had alot of fun with this project as you will hear.” – Jr’s Blog.

Get ready for lots of Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan also has a new autobiography coming out in October. Chances are that between the DVD and the book, we will be seeing Hogan in the WWE Guest Host chair in the near future. I wouldn’t even be surprised to see Hogan in a semi-regular role at some point. Considering the fact that he has lost millions in the divorce to Linda, Hogan needs money. I have no problem seeing Hogan back in the WWE as long as his wrestling is limited. Otherwise, bring on Hulkamania!
