28 Songs & All Artists Revealed for Guitar Hero 5

guitarhero5 Now that the hype for Guitar Hero: Smash Hits is dying down, it is time to talk Guitar Hero 5. 28 GH songs have been confirmed as well as the entire list of artists. The eclectic track list has potential, but has a long way to go in measuring up to the Legends of Rock edition.

I am a big fan of the Guitar Hero / Rock Band playable music genre of video games. For me, the heavier the guitar = the better the game. Guitar Hero got the first three games right in my opinions. However, once the game included other instruments it went all downhill.

I was surprised as to how much I liked Smash Hits. I didn’t expect to like it and had no interest in playing the game. Activision wound up doing a hell of a job of putting a new shine on some old songs. The set list is great and a lot of the older songs have been redone and are more of a challenge than the first time they appeared in GH.

Game Informer along with Activision has revealed an extensive list of tracks for Guitar Hero 5. The game promises 85 songs by 83 artists plus downloadable content. There are no rumors yet as to the DLC. I have very little hopes for the DLC in Guitar Hero 5.

This is where Rock Band wins out in my opinion. As a playable game, I think the guitar in Rock Band is not very challenging. However, Rock Band’s DLC is a hell of a lot better for old metal heads and classic rockers like me. The World Tour DLC has been incredibly disappointing unless you enjoyed the REM or Smashing Pumpkins bundles.

Confirmed tracks for the Guitar Hero 5 video game are as follows…

“2 Minutes to Midnight” Iron Maiden
