Welcome back to another edition of WWE Wrestler of the Week! This week we have two superstars who were undefeated with a 2-0 record. Thus, this week both superstars earn the right to be called WWE Wrestler of the Week. These superstars have been seeing a lot of each other recently, but have yet to square off in a match. Ideally, Ryback and Mark Henry will meet at WrestleMania 29 after a dominant week for both wrestlers.
Ryback began the week with a victory over Team Rhodes Scholars member Damien Sandow. The Big Hungry has been on a tear since moving away from feuding with The Shield. Sandow, on the other hand, has been on quite the losing streak. With Team Rhodes Scholars back together, there’s little reason to believe Sandow would win a singles match against Ryback.
On the March 11th edition of Raw, Ryback continued his dominance against 3MB member Heath Slater. The three man band group always seems to get into these kinds of situations. The most interesting situation came after the match when Mark Henry entered the ring. Henry and Ryback exchanged finishers on Drew McIntyre in a very entertaining terror contest.
Mark Henry though began his week on SmackDown with a victory over Yoshi Tatsu. You’d have to be crazy to even consider the idea of Tatsu winning. We haven’t seen him on WWE TV in months, maybe even years. Henry has been unbeatable since his return, except for a loss at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. He continued his streak against Kofi Kingston on the March 11th edition of Raw. Kingston has been seen regularly on WWE TV, but since losing the Intercontinental title to Wade Barrett, Kingston has been very unsuccessful.
The past few weeks Ryback and Mark Henry have had stare downs between their matches that should ultimately lead to a match at WrestleMania. They are supposedly having a match on the March 15th edition of SmackDown, but I believe this match will end in a no contest.
Whether or not the fact that Ryback and Henry were the only undefeated superstars this week is a coincidence, it was noticed. After Ryback and Big Show’s WrestleMania match was scratched, WWE decided to build towards Mark Henry instead. This will prove to be a great decision. Big Show is not as impressive being a monster heel like Henry is and this feud will be between the monster heel of WWE and the monster babyface.
