Welcome back to another edition of WWE Wrestler of the Week! This week’s winner is another team who were victorious at WWE Elimination Chamber 2013 as well as the following night on Raw. Not only were they victorious, but also they were able to defeat the top babyfaces in WWE. This week’s winners are Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, also known as The Shield.
[adinserter name=”366 left”]In only their second official match, The Shield squared off against John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Once again, you can see the teamwork shown by Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns. When one is getting double-teamed or in trouble, the other members of the faction quickly regroup and help one another.
Each member of The Shield is showing their potential in WWE. Dean Ambrose is golden on the mic in that Heath Ledger as the Joker kind of way. Seth Rollins has taken some very impressive bumps and shown some creative and amazing moves. Roman Reigns is showing off his power through the group powerbombs and spears.
On Raw, The Shield had another six-man tag match with Ryback and Sheamus, but Chris Jericho took John Cena’s place. Cena has begun his feud with The Rock and CM Punk in anticipation for WrestleMania 29. Chris Jericho, being without a feud currently, was inserted in his place.
As I discussed before, Roman Reigns has been delivering spear after spear. One spear was the move that allowed The Shield to win their match at Elimination Chamber. After Reigns delivered the move to Ryback, Seth Rollins pinned the Big Hungry for the win. Reigns would deliver the spear again to Ryback on Raw, but the win on that night came as the result of Ambrose pinning Jericho.
There has been a great deal of speculation in regards to The Shield. Whether it is questions surrounding more members, the leader or their future, there are many wonderings about The Shield.
Speaking of questions surrounding The Shield, who will they face at WrestleMania 29?
It seems as though Ryback is not done with the group, but he is also teasing a heel turn. The Undertaker would make an intriguing possibility as well, but if he is at WrestleMania, it will most likely be against CM Punk. Chances are we will see one more six-man tag team match, most likely with Ryback, Sheamus and maybe Chris Jericho again.
Personally, I am very interested to see what happens with The Shield once this storyline is over. Many people are enjoying their run, including myself, but it is a storyline that has been done many times before. They may not suffer the same fate as Nexus, NWO or other wrestling factions, but they aren’t drastically different.
It will be interesting to see where each superstar goes following the end of The Shield’s run. I would not be surprised to see Seth Rollins turn face, but Ambrose and Reigns will likely stay heel.
[adinserter name=”366 right”]With a great deal of potential and already getting involved in high level matches, this will most likely not be the last time Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are winners of WWE Wrestler(s) of the Week.
