WWE Wrestler Of The Week: December 15-21st, 2012

December 21, 2012 By: Category: WWE | Pro Wrestling

Welcome back to another edition of WWE Wrestler of the Week! Last week, the Celtic Warrior Sheamus took home the honor, but this was a different week. This week’s WWE Wrestler of the Week was victorious at WWE TLC 2012, Raw and two episodes of SmackDown. He also took home a Slammy Award on Monday night. He retained his championship at TLC with Trouble in Paradise. He is Kofi Kingston.

Kofi Kingston began the week on Friday Night SmackDown with a win over Alberto Del Rio. This match seemed to be an opportunity to show off Kofi before his Intercontinental Championship match with Wade Barrett at WWE TLC 2012.

Kofi would go on to successfully retain his Intercontinental Championship against Wade Barrett at WWE TLC 2012. This was a surprise to me as I thought Wade Barrett needed to win this match. Wade Barrett will most likely be a World Champion in a few years, but Kofi will always be Kofi. Therefore, a win against Barrett and keeping the title on Kingston shows WWE supports Kofi and this definitely helped him win this week’s award.

This past Monday’s Raw saw Kofi Kingston pick up a win and a Slammy Award. Kofi won the “Tell Me I Did Not Just See That” award, also known as the Booker T award. Kingston received the award for his acrobatic and impressive handstand walk that kept him alive temporarily in the Royal Rumble match.

The other nominees for this award were Brad Maddox delivering a low blow to Ryback at Hell in a Cell, Sheamus defeating Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds at WrestleMania and CM Punk attacks the Rock at Raw 1000. Kofi’s win of this award is very questionable. Kofi’s moment at the Rumble was certainly impressive. However, the alternative name for the award is the Most Shocking Moment of the Year. The other nominees were most definitely much more shocking than Kofi’s acrobatics. I credit the WWE Universe (or a rigged poll) in giving Kofi the award, but either way it’s a win and helped him win this weekly award on Camel Clutch Blog.

This week is a special week in that there was a live Super SmackDown on Tuesday night. Not only that, but this episode was commercial free, which just means we were able to see every superstar’s entrance. In any case, Kofi Kingston was victorious once again as he teamed up with WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No to defeat Wade Barrett and the Prime Time Players. Although Kofi didn’t do the pinning here to win the match for his team, he remains undefeated for the week.

The second winner of Camel Clutch Blog’s WWE Wrestler of the Week is a fan favorite of the younger audience and of WWE management. Kofi Kingston has been on a roll since winning the Intercontinental Championship and it remains to be seen if Wade Barrett or another up and coming heel can steal the title away. Although Kofi Kingston did not have a match at WWE’s Tribute to the Troops show, his 4-0 record this week was better than any other WWE superstar.
Stay tuned for next week’s WWE Wrestler of the Week and please leave your comments and suggestions for the WOW series.
