WWE WrestleMania 28 Predictions

Undertaker Triple HWell, the time is almost here. We are at the threshold of that “Once in a Lifetime” moment where the Rock and John Cena will finally, after a year of build up and talk, get it on at Sunlife Stadium in Miami, Florida. We will also see Triple H and The Undertaker in a rematch in an “End of an Era” Hell in A Cell Match.

Chris Jericho and CM Punk have taken their WWE Title bout to a rather personal level. After being left off last year’s Mania card, Royal Rumble winner Sheamus will challenge for Daniel Bryan’s World Title. There is a pretty fun under card as well. I will be there for all the fun, including the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to witness my beloved Edge go in as the Hall of Famer that he is. As Bart Scott once said, “Can’t Wait.”

Here are my predictions for what I think will go down at the “Showcase of the Immortals.”

Beth Phoenix/Eve vs Maria Menounous/Kelly Kelly

I am starting with this match as I don’t really care who wins. It is kind of a shame that WWE doesn’t put a lot of importance on the Divas. However, this should be an OK match. I wish they would have an actual Diva instead of a celebrity, but that is WWE for you. With Menounous’ injury (ribs), I am not sure how she will be able to participate, but we will see.
Prediction: Kelly Kelly somehow goes over.

Team Johnnie vs Team Teddy: The GM of Winning Team is GM for both Raw and SmackDown

I wish that non wrestlers, much like last year , were not a focus of the show, but alas, they are. At first, I just despised Johnny Ace. However, he is starting to grow on me. I love Teddy Long though. The two teams are made up of mid to upper mid carders. On Teddy’s team, you have Booker T, Santino, Khali, R Truth, Ryder and Kofi Kingston. On Johnny’s Team, you have The Miz (who was just added at the last minute), Drew McIntyre (who was added out of the blue thanks to Christian still being hurt), Mark Henry, David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger. This is likely just filler.
Prediction: Johnny’s Team Wins

Big Show vs Cody Rhodes (C) for the Intercontinental Championship

Cody Rhodes has been teasing and taunting the Big Show over Show’s past WM failures such as his loss to the Sumo Wrestler, and such for weeks. Big Show has gotten angrier and angrier. The build up has been pretty decent. It’s been about time WWE has put the Intercontinental belt up for defense at Mania. The Intercontinental Title bouts at Mania used to be a centerpiece of the PPV, and at times stole the show (WM3, WM8, etc) . This should be an OK match.
Prediction: Big Show wins match, but not the Title.

Randy Orton vs Kane

The buildup for this match, and my interest in the match has been so insignificant, that I nearly forgot about it. I mean, what is the purpose of this match, exactly? Why couldn’t Kane be on one of the two GM teams or something, and Randy Orton, a top guy, right behind Cena, be in the World Title match as a Triple Threat? Anyway, I really don’t care about this match. Bathroom break.
Prediction: Randy Orton manages to win.

Daniel Bryan (c) vs Sheamus for the World Title

The build up for this match has been pretty good. Bryan has played up the heel champion, often getting his girlfriend, AJ involved , and has done a great job. Sheamus is incredibly over as a babyface. I really have been enjoying Sheamus as a baby face. This match should be an excellent match. The last few Royal Rumble winners have been booked to lose at Mania. Will Sheamus break that streak?
Prediction: Sheamus has a little luck of the Irish and walks out Mania the new World Champion.

Chris Jericho vs CM Punk (C) for the WWE Title

This is going to be an AWESOME MATCH. Depending on where it is placed in the show, and how much time it gets, it could be the show stealer. The two guys really did great jobs with the promos. I don’t have problems with doing an angle where you make it personal, but, I am not sure that the two should have gone THAT personal (about Punk’s dad, etc). However, if the parties were cool, why not? I am looking forward to this match the most.
Prediction: I am not sure they will switch both titles, but I am going with a hunch, and say that Jericho somehow walks out the new WWE Champion.

Undertaker vs Triple H w/ HBK as special guest referee in a Hell in a Cell match

This match as well could be the show stealer if both participants put in as much effort as they did in their awesome match from last year. The build up to this match has been nothing short of outstanding. The wild card is HBK. Will he screw Taker because Taker ended his career? Will he screw HHH ? Will he and HHH be in cahoots to screw Taker? This is going to be unreal. HHH has put it all on the line as well.
Prediction: Undertaker goes 20-0

John Cena vs The Rock

Well, we are finally going to find out what all the fuss is about. It is time for both Cena and Rock to put up or shut up. I think these two can have a pretty good match together. I just hope there is NO outside interference by the Miz. That would just be terrible. As for the build up, Cena and Rock did great jobs, but the problem I had was that WWE did everything they could to make the fans like Cena, that I think they hurt the Rock’s popularity, or at least hurt the reaction he gets. I just think it was very short sighted. Anyway, it should be a good match.
Prediction: Ho Hum Cena beats Rock clean in the middle of the ring.
