WWE SmackDown Results and October 11 Recap

This week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown opens with Vickie Guerrero marching down to the ring. She says that, last Monday on RAW, everyone witnessed a heinous atrocity. The COO was struck by the Big Show. Show tried to compromise the main event at Battleground. Show is a deviant and should have been fired a long time ago. While everyone thought it was hilarious, Show’s problems had just begun. 12 hours after the incident, there was a For-Sale sign in front of his house, and he is now unemployed. Vickie stands by her believe that Show deserves what he got.

Alberto Del Rio makes his way out and tells Vickie she needs to reconsider making him defend the World title against John Cena. She says that match is what’s best for business. The name of the PPV is Hell in a Cell. ADR says this is unfair and there has to be something he can do to make her change her mind. She asks if when he called her sexy was how he truly felt. He says it every word was true, then says something in Spanish. Vickie says if he wants her to reconsider, then he needs to kiss her. ADR kisses her on the cheek, and she demands one on the lips. ADR gives her a quick peck, and she tells him not to be a gringo. She tells him to do it like a Mexican, so ADR dips her and gives her a big kiss. Vickie then says it’s time to do it like “ze French”. She then changes her mind and tells him he should kiss her some other place…like her ass. She says he gets the point, she’s not reconsidering, and the answer is no.

Damien Sandow makes his way down. He calls ADR a phony. He sees Vickie as a sex object he thinks he can manipulate. Yes, she is beautiful, but does she know what part Sandow is most attracted to? Her superior intellect, the way she manipulates her way through life. ADR was out here begging not to be in a match with Cena because he knows he’ll lose, just like he would beg her not to let Sandow cash in his MITB contract. ADR’s conduct is not befitting of a champion, and when given the opportunity, Sandow will show Vickie he is the better man. Vickie says she’s always wondered what the result would be in a match between these two, so she makes one for tonight. Sandow doesn’t have to hand over his briefcase, and ADR doesn’t have to defend the title, so let’s see who the better man is. As Sandow leaves, ADR attacks him from behind. Sandow comes back by shouldering ADR into the corner and stomping him down. He grabs his briefcase and looks to nail ADR, but ADR bails to the outside.

MATCH 1-Intercontinental Championship: R-Truth vs. Curtis Axel (Champion, w/Paul Heyman)
A lock-up starts the match, and Axel backs Truth in the corner for some shoulder thrusts. Truth takes a chop to the chest, but ducks a second one and hits a few of his own. Axel gets sent across the ring before getting hit with a falling hiptoss for 2. Axel retreats to the outside, and Truth follows. He slams Axel face-first into the apron before rolling him back in the ring. Truth hits a back elbow off the ropes for 2 before getting low-bridged to the outside. Truth hangs onto the ropes, but Axel shoulders him to the floor. Commercials.

Back from the break, Truth fights out of a side headlock and ducks a clothesline, but gets hit with a Northern Lariat for 2. Axel grinds his knee into Truth’s face, then applies a rear chinlock. Truth fights out before getting hit with a kneelift. He comes back with a boot and sends Axel hard into the buckles. Axel collapses to the mat, where he sends Truth face-first into the second buckle. Axel and Truth trade kicks from a kneeling position, then get to their feet to trade rights. Axel reverses an Irish whip before getting hit with a pair of clotheslines and a jumping side kick for 2. He ducks a clothesline and hits a seated dropkick to the face for another 2. Axel tries a dropkick, but Truth swats him away and hits a wheelbarrow facebuster for 2. Truth connects with the axe kick and goes for the pin, but Axel grabs the bottom rope to break it up at 2. Axel rolls to the apron, where he hits an inverted hotshot. He rolls back in the ring and hits the Stonecutter for 3.

MATCH 2: Los Locales vs. Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando, w/El Torito)
Locales have no individual names, so I’m just going to call them Uno and Dos for this match. I have found out that the identities of these two are Ricardo Rodriguez and Tyson Kidd, BTW. Uno (Kidd) starts with Fernando, and Fernando goes into a waistlock. Uno counters, and Fernando counters into a side headlock. He shoulders Uno off the mat, avoids a monkey flip and hits a spinning headscissors. Diego tags in, and they hit a double back body drop. Diego chops Uno in the corner, then avoids a corner whip by flipping onto the apron. He hits a headscissors from the apron, and that’s when Dos tags in. Diego immediately sweeps him, and Fernando tags in. Diego catapults him into Fernando, and Fernando hits a forearm to the face before hitting a corkscrew plancha as Dos is draped across Diego’s knees. Fernando ducks a kick and snaps off a hurricanrana. Diego back in, and he hits a springboard chop to the head. He hits another chop before sending Dos into the ropes. Uno makes a blind tag as Diego goes for a backslide on Dos. Uno breaks up the pin and hits a rolling cravat and a kick to the back for 2. Dos back in, and he sends Diego into the buckles. Diego blocks a charge with a back elbow. Fernando tags back in and hits a flying forearm off the ropes. He hits another one and ducks a clothesline from Uno, backdropping him into Dos. Fernando mounts the top rope and hits a double axe handle. Diego back in, and they hit their double inverted flapjack for 3.

WINNERS: Los Matadores. After the match, Uno comes back, and Torito takes him out with a plancha. The Matadores go for their finisher again, this time combined with a springboard cannonball from Torito.

MATCH 3: Brie Bella and the Funkadactyls (Cameron and Naomi, w/Nikki Bella) vs. Eva Marie, Kaitlyn and Natalya (w/Jo-Jo)
Brie and Nattie start the match, and Nattie almost immediately goes into a modified Indian deathlock. Brie comes back with a hip throw, and Nattie counters into a headscissors. Brie escapes and applies an armbar before locking in a Canadian Maple Leaf. Nattie gets a rope break and goes for the Sharpshooter. Brie kicks her off, but Nattie grabs her in a front chancery and tags in Marie. Marie rolls Brie up for 2, then applies an armbar. Kaitlyn tags in and applies an arm wringer. Brie flips out of it and applies her own before tagging in Cameron, who immediately receives a powerslam for 1. Cameron rolls Kaitlyn up for 1, hits a kick and tags in Naomi. Kaitlyn ducks a double clothesline and spears Naomi. Cameron hits Kaitlyn with a Dropsh*t, and Marie does the same thing to Cameron. Brie comes in and throws Marie out before getting hit with a discus clothesline by Nattie. Naomi hits Nattie with the Rear View, and Kaitlyn comes in and rolls her. Naomi reverses and gets the 3.

WINNERS: Brie Bella and the Funkadactyls.

Renee Young is standing by Cody Rhodes and Goldust. She congratulates them on winning at Battleground, and tonight, they are in tag team action. Rhodes says they beat the odds at Battleground when they beat the Shield. Goldust calls it one of the most emotional nights they’ve ever had, and thanks their dad for putting himself in harm’s way. The support from everyone and their determination is what led them to victory. Rhodes says tonight is an uphill battle with the Wyatt Family, and calls this their “welcome back”.

MATCH 4: Damien Sandow vs. World Champion Alberto Del Rio (non-title)
Sandow immediately boots ADR and throws him into the corner. He then throws him into two more corners before hitting some shoulder thrusts. ADR bails to the outside, suckering Sandow back into the ring and hitting some kicks. ADR hits a snapmare and a kick to the spine for 2. A rear chinlock is applied, but Sandow elbows out. ADR headbutts him and goes for a clothesline. Sandow ducks and hits a hip toss before landing some punches to the head. ADR bails to the outside and grabs the World title belt, leaving the match. Sandow clotheslines him from behind, then slams him face-first into the apron before Irish-whipping him into it and rolling him into the ring for 1. Sandow grinds the laces of his boot into ADR’s face before ADR backs him into the corner. There, he hits a thrust kick to the gut, followed by a seated dropkick for 2. ADR stomps Sandow in the head before heading to the top rope, where he hits a double axe handle for 1 as he botches his own pin. ADR applies a rear chinlock, and Sandow elbows out. ADR cuts him off with a knee and a headbutt before throwing Sandow into the corner. Sandow backdrops him to the floor. Sandow rolls him back into the ring and hits a kneedrop and an elbow drop for 2. Sandow snaps off a suplex for 1, then begins clubbing him in the corner. ADR kicks Sandow out of the corner, then kicks him in the back of the left knee. He hits some forearms to the face, but Sandow fights back from his knees before hitting some headbutts. He misses a corner charge, going shoulder-first into the ring post. ADR kicks him in the shoulder, but Sandow comes back with a kick of his own before clotheslining ADR to the floor. Sandow grabs his briefcase and calls himself the uncrowned champ as we go to commercials.

Back from the break, ADR hits a seated dropkick to the face before trying to choke Sandow over the middle rope. Sandow avoids a cannonball to the back, sending ADR through the ropes and to the outside. ADR blocks a whip into the ring steps and hits a thrust kick to the face. He grabs the case to use as a weapon, but it’s handcuffed to the ring post. Sandow forearms him from behind and rolls him back into the ring, where ADR recovers and hits some rights to the head. Sandow comes back with rights of his own until ADR headbutts him. Sandow reverses an Irish whip and hits a back elbow. He follows up with a clothesline and a swinging body slam. The Cubito Aequet connects for 2, and Sandow pulls down his kneepad for a kneedrop that ends up missing. ADR hits a thrust kick to the face, but it’s only good for 2. He pulls Sandow up by his beard and hits a double-knee armbreaker. He signals for the rolling jujigatame, but Sandow breaks free and hits an Edge-O-Matic for 2. Sandow looks for the Terminus, but ADR escapes and hits a Backstabber for 2. Sandow ducks the step-up enziguri in the corner and hits a flipping neckbreaker for 2. ADR gets Irish-whipped, but puts on the breaks and rolls to the apron. Sandow attacks him, and ADR kicks him in the exposed knee. He applies the rolling jujigatame, and Sandow eventually taps.

WINNER: Alberto Del Rio.

MATCH 5: The Great Khali and the Prime-Time Players (Titus O’Neil & Darren Young) vs. 3MB (Jinder Mahal, Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater)
Slater and Khali start the match with a lock-up. Khali shoves Slater to the mat, and Slater tags in Mahal. Mahal hits a right, and Khali knocks him down with a right of his own. He hits some elbows in the corner, followed by an open-hand chop to the chest. Khali throws Mahal to the opposite corner for another one, then tags in Young. Young throws Mahal into the corner and whips him across the ring before hitting a corner clothesline. A northern lights suplex gets 2. Mahal backs Young into his corner and tags in Drew. Young hits an elbow to the face, followed by an inverted atomic drop and a clothesline. Drew kicks him in the midsection off a corner spot and tags in Slater. Drew and Slater hit a double slingshot suplex for 2, and now Slater has Young in a rear chinlock. Young fights out, but misses a clothesline. Slater quickly hits a jumping neckbreaker for 2, then tags in Mahal. Young gets whipped into Mahal, who hits a high knee to the face for 2. Drew tags in and hits a short-arm clothesline before stomping on Young’s right hand. Young comes back with a forearm to the face and goes for the tag. Drew grabs him by the foot, so Young hits an enziguri to break it. Titus and Mahal tag in, and Titus runs through Mahal with a shoulderblock. He knocks Slater off the apron, then knocks Mahal down again before hitting a big boot. He hits an avalanche in the corner, followed by a standing fall-away slam for 2 as Drew breaks up the pin. Young low-bridges Drew to the outside and hits a clothesline from the apron. Slater tags in and hits a Harlem Sidekick. Titus comes back with a back body drop off a distraction by Khali. Khali tags in, hits the brain chop and gets the 3.

WINNERS: The Great Khali and the Prime-Time Players.

MATCH 6: Goldust and Cody Rhodes vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan (w/Bray Wyatt)
Before the Wyatt Family comes out, we see them on the TitanTron. Bray Wyatt says they say he doesn’t belong here, that his intentions are cruel and unjust. They claim he dines with sinners and runs with thieves. But the water is just fine. Come on in. We’re here.
Harper and Goldust start the match. Harper backs Goldust into the ropes and hits some rights. Goldust comes back with a flying clothesline, and Rowan tags himself in, still wearing his mask. He tells Goldust to hush, then just stands still. Goldust looks him up and down and does his signature pose before hitting an uppercut. He follows up with the low uppercut and tags in Rhodes, who hits an elbow off the top rope, followed by a chopblock. He boots Rowan in the face before Rowan knocks him off his feet with a shoulderblock. From the apron, Rhodes tries to fight back, but Rowan knocks him down with a headbutt. Commercials.

Back from the break, Rhodes escapes a back suplex from Harper and sends him into the corner. Goldust tags in and hits a clothesline before knocking Rowan off the apron. He hits Harper with an inverted atomic drop, followed by a big boot. Harper goes to the corner, where Goldust meets him with mounted punches. He calls for the bulldog, but Harper just throws him off and hits an avalanche in the corner for 2. Rowan tags in and drops a knee to the chest for 2. Rowan applies a neck vice, lets it go and drops Goldust with a back elbow. He deadlifts Goldust from the mat and sets him across the top rope. Harper tags in and hits some shots to the gut, knocking Goldust back down to the mat. Harper drops a pair of elbows for 2, then applies a side headlock. Goldust fights out, avoids a dropkick and hits a quick DDT. Harper prevents a tag by knocking Rhodes off the apron, then rams Goldust into his own corner. He hits some back elbows before Rowan tags in, and Harper whips Goldust into a Rowan bodyslam for 2. Goldust tries to fight back with rights, but is cut off with a knee before getting sent hard into the corner. Rowan steps on Goldust’s face, then applies a bearhug. He swings Goldust around, but Goldust elbows him in the face to break the hold, collapsing in the corner. Rowan stays on the attack with some right hands, then sends him across the ring. Goldust jumps to the second rope and hits a springboard back elbow. Rowan recovers and rams Goldust into the corner, knocking him down with rights. He applies an iron claw and swings Goldust across the ring. Pretty impressive move there. He misses a roundhouse, and Goldust comes flying off the ropes with a bulldog. Harper tags in, as does Rhodes, and Rhodes drops Harper with a springboard dropkick. He hits a high knee and a low uppercut before hitting the Disaster Kick for 2. Rowan breaks up the pin and sends Rhodes into the corner. Rhodes avoids a charge and dumps Rowan to the floor. Harper charges in and suffers the same fate. Rhodes takes Rowan out with a cross-body from the top rope, but turns around into a big boot by Harper. Harper rolls Rhodes back into the ring, and as Goldust comes in, Harper levels him with a discus clothesline. He sends Rhodes into the corner, but Rhodes counters into an Oklahoma roll for 3.

WINNERS: Goldust and Cody Rhodes. Good win here, and the Rhodes boys become the first to defeat members of the Wyatt Family, which should help elevate Cody a little bit. Rumor has it WWE is finally ready to pull the trigger on a main event push for him.

End of show.
