This Sunday, WWE presents Elimination Chamber 2013 in one of the most exciting February pay-per-views of all time. From top to bottom, the card looks great, including the preshow.
Although there is only one match inside the chamber, there are three or possibly four main events happening this year. From World Title matches to the Elimination Chamber match to a six-man tag team match, you don’t want to miss this event.
PreShow: Team Rhodes Scholars vs. Brodus Clay and Tensai
This was a brilliant move by WWE. Team Rhodes Scholars should have never broken up and this match should prove to the company that Sandow and Rhodes should reunite permanently.
This match also showcases two non-champion tag teams, which shows how deep and relevant the tag team division is. Brodus Clay and Tensai are the newest additions to the division, though they basically took the place of Kidd and Gabriel.
In either case, this match is actually somewhat difficult to predict. If Team Rhodes Scholars were reuniting permanently, they would be the favorites to win. However, if this is truly only for one night, it would be wise to give Team Monsters of Funk (I like that name) the win.
Prediction: Brodus Clay and Tensai
Divas Champion Kaitlyn vs. Tamina
We haven’t seen the divas on WWE TV in a number of weeks. When we do see them, it is for a very short period of time.
Things shouldn’t be much different at Elimination Chamber. The divas haven’t gotten much attention lately, so there is no reason for a title change here. Tamina needs to improve on the mic and her character to have a chance at being the next divas champion.
United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. The Miz
The Miz will finally get a shot at the United States title on the real pay-per-view card as he faces Antonio Cesaro once again.
However, The Miz’s face turn hasn’t worked out well enough for him to be the one to end Cesaro’s reign. Cesaro will hold the United States title until the next up and coming superstar comes along and Cesaro can get pushed up to the main event.
Prediction: Antonio Cesaro
World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. Big Show
Hopefully this will be the last opportunity Big Show gets at the World Heavyweight Championship. It should be considering the Elimination Chamber match winner will face the champion at WrestleMania.
There is no reason to believe Big Show will win this match. Del Rio’s face turn, unlike the Miz’s, has turned out great. The WWE Universe is totally behind Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez. WWE may have found their new top Latino babyface after all.
Prediction: Alberto Del Rio
Elimination Chamber Match for #1 Contender for World Heavyweight Championship
This match is probably the most difficult to predict, but at the same time only a couple of superstars have a good chance. Bryan and Kane won’t win as they will most likely cause each other to get eliminated.
Chris Jericho also probably won’t win as he is a part-time wrestler. I also don’t expect Randy Orton to win, especially since he wasn’t even on Raw this past week. He continues to be defeated by Mark Henry, suggesting Orton will not win.
That leaves Mark Henry and Jack Swagger.
I have been predicting Mark Henry over Swagger due to the fact that the World’s Strongest Man is more of a main event level superstar right now. Swagger has been in matches with Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella, while Henry has been defeating Randy Orton.
I won’t be surprised if Jack Swagger wins, but Henry has to be the favorite.
Prediction: Mark Henry
John Cena, Ryback, Sheamus vs. The Shield
This match is also difficult to call as WWE will try to make both teams look strong. John Cena needs to be protected as his Royal Rumble win has seemingly began a huge year for Cena. At the same time, this is only The Shield’s second official match.
Ryback and Sheamus also have been losing pay-per-view matches recently, making all superstars in major risk of looking weak.
Regardless, if WWE has to make one side look stronger than the other it’s the three superheroes of WWE. The Shield can lose this match and it won’t mean as much as if Cena and crew lose.
Prediction: John Cena, Ryback, Sheamus
WWE Champion The Rock vs. CM Punk
Most people were probably expecting The Rock to defeat CM Punk once again go on to face John Cena at WrestleMania 29. However, with the new stipulation and considering certain consequences, I wouldn’t count out a CM Punk win. No pun intended.
Now that The Rock can lose the title by disqualification or count-out, I fully expect CM Punk to win the title back. For those wondering what this means for WrestleMania, the main event can still include The Rock.
With the news that The Undertaker may not have a match at WrestleMania, this is the best case scenario for everyone involved.
I won’t be surprised if The Rock wins and faces Cena at WrestleMania, but that leaves CM Punk without anything to do.
Prediction: CM Punk
What do you think of my predictions for WWE Elimination Chamber 2013? What are your predictions?
