Stacy Keibler Returning to WWE a Good Thing, Pairing with Bryan not so Good

Any time I can talk a little but about Stacy Keibler, I am a happy camper. The fact she is one the market again and I could have a shot… well, let’s get back to reality.

[adinserter name=”366 left”]The new rumor around the WWE is that Keibler may be returning to the company as the manager of none other than Daniel Bryan has me a little perplexed and wondering what in the world the creative team and Vince McMahon must be thinking? Bryan is on the greatest run of his wrestling career, where he is main eventing at SummerSlam with John Cena for the WWE Title and has torn through the competition of the roster like he is a shark on a mission.

What is the world of Tajiri and Torrie is the WWE thinking?

Now before we get all upset that a man with a beard that looks like the second coming of Uncle Jesse can be in the same room as the statuesque Keibler, diva-dirt.com is questioning the validity of this report.

“According to British newspaper The Sun, WWE is desperate to lure back the former Diva — who worked for the company between 2001 and 2006 — to capitalize on her high-profile break-up from George Clooney.”

I for one would love to see Keibler back in the WWE for various reasons (none of which have to do with wrestling) but seriously?

At 33, Keibler would still be one of the main draws of this company, which has taken a hit with high profile divas such as Maryse, Kelly Kelly and Eve all leaving the WWE for various reasons. Just two years ago, Kelly Kelly and John Cena were the marketing dynamos of this company, leaving Cena to soldier on as the biggest entertainment and merchandising draw ever.

Keibler may be yet another marketing success for the company on an entertainment level since she is a more mainstream name than almost every other WWE superstar, sans Cena and Mike “The Miz” Mizanin.

As a wrestler and a manager, it is not a good move for the WWE.

While Keibler is arguably as beautiful as any actress and model on the planet, she is not a wrestler by any means and pairing her with Bryan as a potential power couple can only lead to disaster. Plus the obvious mismatch in height and appearance may be a real turn off to fans, who will side toward the blond beauty, taking away Bryan’s momentum.

While other couples like this have been tried in the past, where a few have succeed (Randy Savage and Elizabeth, Goldust and Marlena), many have failed (Tajiri and Torrie, Baby Doll and Dusty Rhodes). The WWE does not need another failure when it comes to their Divas Division and the current television show Divas on E! Entertainment.

The fact the WWE has been so quick to cash in on Keibler’s newly-found singledom leads me to believe this is a “react now and ask questions later” approach to ratings and the need for a diva with Keibler’s credentials to step forward and make some noise in the WWE Universe.

It also makes me wonder why the WWE did not reach out to Keibler when she was dating George Clooney. With his “star” so bright and the company (or Vince McMahon) so gung ho about making movies and bringing more entertainment to the brand, having Clooney and Keibler in his corner would have been a coup that would have corrected most of the failed ventures of this company over the last year.

[adinserter name=”366 right”]And if the WWE did in fact sign Keibler and pair her with Bryan, you have to wonder what Brie Bella (Bryan’s real life girlfriend) might have to say about this?
