Christian gets one more match
Christian, who will turn 40 this year, has been plagued by injuries most of the last two years and has been as hot as any wrestler has been of late.
The “One Last Match” mantra he has been preaching has worked and you see an intensity in him that proves he is worthy of a potential title run. But this run, however it is deemed by the WWE and the fans, will only be successful if its more than a one-month wonder.
There are too many wrestlers who are worthy right now of winning the title (Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Damien Sandow) that is time for Christian to pass the torch to the next wave of wrestlers for the title.
Good for you, Vickie Guerrero
When Vickie took all power away from Alberto Del Rio on Friday night and announced the Triple Threat Match to determine his opponent at SummerSlam, I felt like we were seeing a true authority figure in the company.
We all know Vickie has no power other than an on-screen title but she took her “job” seriously and made the right move. The match with Christian, Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton was shall we call, an “instant classic.”
Kurt Angle causes issues for TNA
While I think Kurt Angle is still one of the top five wrestlers in the business today, his troubles outside the ring cannot be ignored.
Angle’s DUI arrest and subsequent announcement that he will seek help for his drinking problem only magnifies the issues TNA still has.
Poor ratings, Hulk Hogan’s involvement, money issues and now means TNA must try to deal with Angle possibly being away from the action for a bit. Who will replace him in the Main Event Mafia? Can the angle (no pun intended) carry on?
Since Rampage Jackson and Tito Ortiz are headed for a collision course, does MMA fighting take center stage in the wrestling promotion?
More than a woman
Has anyone lost as much momentum since WrestleMania as Fandango? While seeing Summer Rae is one of the highlights of my night of wrestling, the character is losing steam and fast. He has become nothing more than a jobber.
Johnny Curtis stated a few months ago he was worried that his character would lose steam and become stale. He was right. I like Curtis as a wrestler, but the character is boring now. Only problem is repackaging him may hurt his career.
Layla’s Heel Turn
We all saw this coming. It was only a matter of time. Now, the WWE must do the balancing act again. Who makes the jump to the other side? When Tamina makes her return, does she join forces with Kaitlyn? If Kharma returns to the ring, what happens to her.
And since Tara (Victoria) and Madison Rayne aren’t doing anything right now, where would they stand in a potentially interesting situation over the summer?
A Tag Team to Think of
Here’s an idea I am sure many of us have thought of. Why not pair Sheamus with Wade Barrett and let them go chase The Shield for the World Tag Team Titles? Or, why not get Mark Henry and Big Show to do the same?
Right now, the WWE is too singles competition driven and a pairing of these men and the combinations listed with give a sudden jolt not only to the tag team division, but the company as well.
With size and power in the “Halls of Pain,” couldn’t you see a bigger, stronger, more confident Henry and Show destroying The Hounds of Justice?
Also, having Sheamus and Barrett together could be like the UK Connection of sorts. British Bulldogs who are bigger and stronger than Davey Boy Smith and the Dynamite Kidd.
