Bill Goldberg Quells WWE Return Rumors

[adinserter name=”366 left”]Don’t hold your breath waiting for Bill Goldberg to return to the WWE. While rumors have been flying for months, the former WCW star has put a lid on it through a recent tweet. Is this just part of the work or will fans be left Goldberg-less in New Orleans?

The buzz for Goldberg wrestling at WrestleMania 30 has been strong for a while. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has written several times about negotiations between both parties. According to Meltzer’s articles, the parties have been far off. According to Goldberg that door may be closed.

Goldberg recently sent out a tweet about the negotiations. According to Goldberg, there are no current negotiations ongoing between he and the WWE.

Contrary to popular belief there’ve been no negotiations. RT @iroc_z28: @Goldberg is it true that negotiations with wwe have come to an end?” – @Goldberg.

Goldberg’s desires to wrestle in the WWE are not a secret. Goldberg has stated in the past that his son has never seen him wrestle live and he would love to share that moment with him. Goldberg has flat out said he would never work in TNA so WWE is it. Whether it happens this year or not is anyone’s guess.

It looked like he was a lock just a few months back. Ryback started doing more of his moves and even acknowledged the chants for Goldberg. The announcers also played into it which led many to believe that this was a done deal. That said it has been awhile since Goldberg was mentioned on television so who knows what the agenda was back then.

If I had to place a bet I’d bet that Goldberg isn’t coming in at this point. I can’t imagine this match being a possibility with the way that Ryback has been booked or hasn’t been booked lately. The WWE have done nothing to keep Ryback hot for such a match at Mania. Ryback has cooled off quite a bit in recent weeks to the point that the match would be a waste at this point.

Quite frankly I don’t see the point of spending the money on Goldberg now that Mania will be on the network. The company will most likely not make nearly as much in pay per view revenue this year as they have in recent years. Without that revenue coming in, why pay for additional special guests like Goldberg? Brock Lesnar and Hulk Hogan’s appearances fees will already be enough.

[adinserter name=”366 right”]I am at the point where I don’t think Goldberg ever wrestles again in the WWE. Personally I don’t think it is a big loss. His last Mania match was one of the worst in Mania history. I can’t imagine a match between he and Ryback living up to expectations. In this case I think it is better to imagine the moment than actually experience it.
